Sam’s Club trips galore

It’s been a while since we’ve given an update, so we’re both getting things up-to-date.

punch trunkWe’ve made a lot of trips to Sam’s and Target, collecting things for the wedding and reception.
I took this picture of my trunk filled with supplies for punch.

We have:

  • six bottles of ginger ale
  • seven bottles of Hawaii’an Punch©
  • twelve cans of pineapple juice

Since all of that is going to stay in my trunk for the next two weeks, we went ahead and brought the sherbet inside. Hopefully it doesn’t freeze between now and then.

[How many people pronounce sherbet with an extra 'r' as in sher-bert. Just about everyone that I know does. We don't pronounce sorbet as sor-bert, though.]

In my spare closet, I have tableclothes, lots of nuts and mints, petticoats and veils and garters, and other such wedding accessories.

I’ll send another post soon telling y’all about all the Royal Carribean© cruise plans.

Showers

Well, I have had several showers held in my honor this past month. It’s been fun. The first shower I had was on March 4, by the people I work with. It was actually a combination wedding shower for me and baby shower for another girl who works there. We had a really good time. We had sandwiches and pasta salad and cake and margaritas. All in all, it was good night.

Saturday, March 5, Wes and I drove to Coffeyville for shower #2, held by my Aunt Lynn. I got to see lots of Coffeyvillians that I hadn’t seen in a long time, and had good food and fun. When Aunt Lynn sent out the invitations, she enclosed a recipe card and asked each person to write out a favorite recipe to put in a recipe book for me. So, I have a ton of new recipes to try out.

We have another shower on Thursday, April 7, at a friend’s house. One of Wes’s mom’s friends organized it as a “drop-in” shower. I guess that means that people can just come and go as they please. Wes will be joining me at this one, since these will be mostly people he knows from church.

All in all, wedding plans are going well. Wes is currently posting about our experience buying punch ingredients. There is nothing much to do now except wait until the day before the wedding when we will decorate the church and take stuff over, such as the punch ingredients, The Dress, accessories, etc. It’s all good.

That’s it from here.

Alternate directions

So, we sent out very helpful cards with the invitations detailing how to get to the church on 87th Street.

Unfortunately, they closed the 87th Street exit from the highway for the next two years so our cards aren’t so helpful anymore.

One alternate route is:
Exit on 95th Street. Go went to Quivira. Turn left (north) and go one mile to 87th Street. Turn left on 87th and go one mile to the church.

Please tell your friends and family about this change so that people can find their way.

Note: 87th St touches I-435 in two places. On the west side of Kansas City (near Shawnee Mission Park) it does go through to the church. On the east side, however, it doesn’t. I found that out once when I was 16.

How I Knew …

Here’s an example of how I knew Jessica was the right girl for me:

“Wes, I spent all day counting things in binary!”

Ah, true love.
