Ocean, here we come!

Jessica says:

Well, we are in Cape Canaveral this Monday morning. So far, it has been an uneventful trip for us. We stayed in the Seville on the Plaza Saturday night, and saw what appeared to be a limo convention at the QuikTrip next to the hotel. Turns out that Prom was just down the street. As an interesting side note, Elvis was driving one of the limos. How would you like to go to Prom with Elvis as your driver?

Following a brunch with family, we flew from Kansas City to Orlando. Southwest Airlines gained two very loyal customers on that flight. Wes and I were writing some thank you notes on the plane to pass the time and the steward passed by and asked us if we were getting married. We explained that we had gotten married the day before. He asked our names and congratulated us. He then made an in-flight announcement and everyone gave us a round of applause. Upon landing in Orlando, a bottle of champagne was waiting for us. Even the captain personally congratulated us. As I said, we will be loyal customers.

We landed right about sunset, and it was beautiful. There are a lot more trees and a lot more water than I am used to seeing. It was about a half-hour drive to Canaveral from Orlando, and it was through nothing but trees. We were looking for something to eat, but there was nothing out there. Periodically, we did see cars parked along the side of the road, with their headlights pointing in to the forest…we never did figure out what they were doing!

Today, we are going to hopefully go by the Kennedy Space Center (someone told us a shuttle was up), walk along the beach and see if I like water anymore, and board our cruise. This will probably be the last update until we get back. There is internet on the ship, for a “very reasonable fee”, but I’m not sure that their definition of reasonable and mine are the same thing!

Thanks to all for everything you did for the wedding. It was a wonderful time and it couldn’t have been done without all the support and help we received. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.
