St Louis picture and a few more notes

NLCS Introductions

Jessica wrote up a nice entry on our trip to St Louis. I thought I’d share a couple pictures from the ballgame. Also, she forgot to mention that I spilt her soda at least three times during the game. Everywhere I put it, I’d kick it over. Luckily, the people to our right didn’t show up, so we stole their cupholder for the drink’s final resting place.

I really enjoyed my first trip to the new Busch Stadium. The brick and black steel look great together, especially compared to the 70’s concrete look at Kauffman Stadium.

Plus, it totally rocked to be able to take the train down. No mess with parking and we were able to get right on at both stations. I would totally ride a train downtown if I worked down there.

Podbop

My friend Scott made a site where you can post folk jams so people will show up and play with you. Since he’s done that, I’ve been interested in geographic sites that tell you something based on where you are.

Podbop takes your location, finds upcoming concerts in your area, then podcasts songs from those artists. So, you can hear lots of songs you probably wouldn’t have before and when one strikes your fancy you can go see them in concert.

Nifty!

Rails: deleting records without an instance

Jamis Buck just added the ability to delete a record without instantiating it.

So, you can do something like:
Person.delete(1)

Before, you’d have to do something like:
@bob = Person.find(1)
@bob.destroy!

This saves a query because your aren’t selecting the record, then deleting.

Massive turf war for razors

I just loved this CNN article about razors. It totally sounds like an Onion article, seriously debating the merits of a five-bladed razor with two lubricating strips.

Not just one, but TWO.

Next, the six-bladed razor!

Apparently, competitors weren’t happy:

The move renews an ongoing blade battle with Schick, the shaving unit of Energerizer, which launched a four-blade razor, the Quattro, last year. The move ate into Gillette sales and sparked a legal battle between the two companies.

An ongoing epic legal battle between razor companies sounds awesome. “I’ll nick you to heck!”
