Switching to Dvorak keyboard

I’m switching my keyboard layout to Dvorak. It’s been a little frustrating at first, but I’m starting to get the hang of it.

First, I took at extra keyboard at work and switched all of the keys around. It’s kinda ghetto because the keys are banked at different angles based on what row they’re on. When I switched them to different rows, the keys from different rows have different angles and they look a little funny next to each other. I can’t tell any difference between them, though. I do miss the bump on the F and J keys that tell my index fingers where to rest, however.

The hardest part has been unmapping the letter S from left-ring-finger and using right-pinky-finger instead.

Xerox P8 printer => Paperweight

I switched my old computer at home to be a mythTV box so I could use it as a DVR. The only other thing it did was act as a print server for my Xerox P8 laser printer. I’ve had this printer for 8 years and it still does great for the around-the-house type of things.

No big deal, I thought. I’ll just grab a linux driver and set it up. Searching Google, this is the first result:

paperweight

Dangit.

They don’t have to be so blunt about it.
